PM hopes Trump-led U.S. will boost global peace: Georgia open to cooperation
“I hope under the new U.S. administration led by President Trump, global peace efforts will be further strengthened,” said the Georgian Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze.
Speaking at the Tbilisi Regional Forum on Sustainable Development, he emphasized Georgia’s readiness to cooperate with all states—especially superpowers—that prioritize peace.
“China is a superpower that has not engaged in any war for the past 45 years. From the very beginning, it has focused on progress, modernization, and economic development—and the results are evident,” Kobakhidze said.
He noted that the world today faces numerous challenges, particularly concerning peace.
“Military conflicts persist across a broad region; we are witnessing a large-scale war, and unfortunately, many wars continue around us. In such a context, the importance of peace must be stressed. The role of superpowers in achieving global peace is crucial. I would like to highlight the presence of the Chinese Ambassador at today’s conference. I believe China serves as a model in this regard. For 45 years, it has remained committed to peaceful development, and we must sincerely appreciate its contribution not only to regional stability but also to global peace,” he said.
Kobakhidze also welcomed the messages from the new U.S. President that highlight the importance of peace and hope.
“I believe that under President Trump’s new administration, peace will be more actively promoted worldwide. We are ready to work with all states—including superpowers—that are committed to peace, economic growth, and the well-being of their citizens,” the Prime Minister concluded.
