PM: By 2030 Georgia will be fully prepared to join EU, opposition works against this goal

“By 2030, Georgia will be fully prepared to join the European Union, and resetting relations is essential,” Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told Georgian journalists in Milan.

According to Kobakhidze, opposition representatives are working against this goal and trying to obstruct the process.

“Their objective is always sabotage. This started as early as the visa liberalization process, and continued throughout discussions on candidate status and the opening of accession talks. The opposition acts as an agency of sabotage, consistently working against Georgia’s EU path.

Our goal is clear: to ensure Georgia’s eventual EU membership. We believe that by 2030, the country will be fully ready, and re-establishing strong relations is key. The opposition’s visits aim to block this reset. We will spare no effort in this process—the rest depends on the approach of European institutions,” the Prime Minister said.
