Georgian PM says every state acts in its own self-interest; logically, new U.S. administration aims to review relations, including with Russia

“Every state acts in its own self-interest. Consequently, it is entirely logical that the new U.S. administration is opening talks on reviewing relations, including with Russia,” the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, told reporters.

As the Head of Government noted, national interests are the defining factor for any state.

“We have always said that every state acts in its own national interests; such is modern politics, and indeed politics throughout history. Every state acts in its own self-interest. Consequently, it is entirely logical that the new administration is now opening talks on reviewing relations, including with Russia. Once again, national interests are the defining factor for any state. We have been urging everyone, the entire public, to look at events pragmatically, and current developments show that there is no alternative to a pragmatic approach,” Kobakhidze said.
