Parliamentary delegation reviews trade and investment opportunities in Riyadh
Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, in the company of the delegation members, met with the Secretary-General of the Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce (FSC), Waleed Alorainan.
According to the parliament’s press service, the discussion focused on establishing the Georgia-Saudi Arabia Business Forum to enhance the application of the investment potential of both nations. Particular emphasis was placed on investments in the IT, renewable energy, tourism and infrastructure sectors and the expansion of business links.
The parties underscored the significance of the conclusion of the Free Trade Agreement between Georgia and the Persian Gulf countries.
Within the framework of the visit, a meeting was also held with the Director of the most influential research organization of Saudi Arabia – the Gulf Research Center, Abdulaziz Sager.
The parties held a discussion on the political processes and conflicts in the Black Sea region and the Near East.
Abdulaziz Sager informed Georgian MPs about the situation in the Near East, including the developments in the Gaza Strip and the possible solutions. Emphasis was placed on the situation in Syria, Yemen and the Near East countries.
The parties agreed on the convocation of the joint scientific conference with the topic of the security issues in the South Caucasus and the Near East.
The Georgian Delegation, headed by Nikoloz Samkharadze, comprises First Deputy Chair of the Committee, Irakli Shatakishvili, the Head of the Georgia-Saudi Arabia Friendship Group, Vakhtang Turnava, Chair of the Sports Committee and a member of the Friendship Group, Victor Sanikidze.
