Georgian PM hails ‘highly significant’ China deal: We are entering new era of comprehensive strategic partnership

“Three years ago, Georgia and China signed a strategic partnership agreement. Today, we are advancing to the stage of a comprehensive strategic partnership,” the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, announced.

According to the Prime Minister, this new chapter will yield even greater results in deepening Georgia-China relations. He mentioned that the agreement was officially signed today.

“This milestone warrants its own dedicated government briefing, as today is a highly significant day. As you know, roughly three years ago, Georgia and China established a strategic partnership agreement. We are now transitioning to the next phase: a comprehensive strategic partnership. Over the past three years, we have made great progress in our bilateral relations, strengthening both our political and economic connections, which has translated into tangible actions.

Visas have been waived, direct flights are operating, and new routes are being added this year, ensuring greater mobility between Georgia and China. We have also seen concrete, measurable results in trade and economic cooperation. This is what the strategic partnership signed three years ago achieved, and now we are entering a new era in our relations. This transition to a comprehensive strategic partnership will deliver even greater outcomes in strengthening Georgia-China relations. It is a highly significant agreement that was signed today,” Irakli Kobakhidze stated.
