Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili met with Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairwoman of the Senate (Upper House) of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
According to the Parliament’s Press Service, the meeting underscored the friendly ties between Georgia and Uzbekistan based on mutual trust and respect.
The parties focused on parliamentary diplomacy as a key tool for strengthening bilateral relations and expressed their readiness to deepen inter-parliamentary cooperation further.
Shalva Papuashvili highlighted the importance of high-level visits and positively assessed his official visit to Uzbekistan last year. He extended an invitation to Chairwoman Tanzila Narbayeva to pay a return visit to Georgia.
The discussion also addressed the significance of enhancing the transport and transit potential of the Middle Corridor and advancing bilateral economic cooperation.
The meeting was held within the framework of the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which takes place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on 5-9 April 2025.
Chaired by the Speaker, the Georgian parliamentary delegation comprises Foreign Relations Committee Chair, Nikoloz Samkharadze and Environment Protection and Natural Resources Committee Chair, Maia Bitadze.
