Before the vaccine is approved, there is only one way, wear a face mask, even in an open space, said the head of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC), Amiran Gamkrelidze after the meeting of the Coordination Council on coronavirus.
Gamkrelidze urges the population to refrain from large gatherings, weddings for a while.
“Coronavirus is a serious disease, millions of people have already died of it, and there is a prognosis that by next spring, unfortunately, another million will be killed. Coronavirus will become bigger killer than tuberculosis, AIDS, malaria, hepatitis. The only means of protection until the vaccine is a face mask,” stressed Gamkrelidze.
Georgia has reported 680 new cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) today, bringing the total number of infected people to 13 521.
292 patients recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours, increasing the total number of cured persons to 7 159.
Seven patients died of the virus last night. The virus-related death toll stands at 109.
