NCDC Head says people in contact with coronavirus patients must self-isolate
The government’s decision regarding the management of people who had contact with coronavirus patients will come into force in the near future, said the head of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC), Amiran Gamkrelidze.
According to the upcoming decree, people who had contact with coronavirus patients must self-isolate or enter quarantine without any testing.
“If they are asymptomatic, they will be tested on the 12th day and then will be free, but in case of symptoms within 12 days – fever, shortness of breath or cough, they should contact a doctor and the doctor decides if the testing in necessary,” noted Gamkrelidze.
Georgia has reported 578 new cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) today, bringing the total number of infected people to 8 696.
375 patients recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours, increasing the total number of cured persons to 4 619.
Two more patients died of coronavirus in Georgia. The virus-related death toll stands at 52.
