Jailed Ex-President Saakashvili: I'm already in world history; I pity those who see me as competitor
“I want to tell everyone who competes with me, I laugh that they really think I’m their competitor for any position in this devastated, small country. I am already written in world history with ample recognition,” former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili stated during his remote appearance at today’s court hearing.
According to Saakashvili, the game of partisanship must end. Mikheil Saakashvili spoke about the importance of a united front of resistance.
“I want to tell those who continue playing party politics in today’s situation. Friends, don’t you realize that this game is already over? Georgia’s train, which was moving at a rapid pace during those proud 9 years, first slowed down and has now finally entered the depot. A kleptocratic dictatorship has been established in Georgia, which means that any party’s political games make no sense. Now, only a united front of resistance, without any party differences, will lead us to safety.
I also want to tell everyone who competes with me, I laugh that they really think I’m their competitor for any position in this devastated, small country. I am already written in world history with ample recognition. I feel sorry for everyone who thinks I’m their competitor in the Georgian political swamp, I feel sorry for everyone who continues playing the game of party politics.
I came four years ago, sacrificed myself because I knew Georgia was in this condition. I am being punished precisely because I dared and Georgia dared, Georgia is being punished because it was successful, in the world’s positive spotlight, because it didn’t fall in line with failed, kleptocratic post-Soviet states,” noted Mikheil Saakashvili.
