Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with International Maritime Organization (IMO) Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez.
According to the government’s press office, the parties reviewed the “years of successful cooperation,” as well as future partnership opportunities aimed at strengthening the country’s maritime sector.
“The building of Anaklia Port and its importance to the country’s long-term economic growth were highlighted. The Prime Minister emphasized that the Georgian government is committed to growing the marine industry,” reads the press statement, adding that Dominguez praised Georgia’s achievements regarding service digitalization, “which has contributed to significant development of the maritime sector in the country.” Dominguez noted that “Georgia should become an example for other countries in this regard.”
