Georgia to sign key agreement with leading development group in UAE, Economy Minister reports

“During his visit to Abu Dhabi, Georgia’s Prime Minister is expected to oversee the signing of a significant agreement with one of the world’s leading development groups. This agreement will bring several billion dollars in investments to Georgia,” stated Levan Davitashvili, Georgia’s First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.

Highlighting the strong political and economic ties between Georgia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Davitashvili noted that Georgia was among the first countries in the region to sign the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement with the UAE.

“We maintain trade relations under a free trade regime, which provides a solid legal foundation to enhance our economic collaboration. Within the scope of this visit, a transformative agreement will be signed, involving multi-billion-dollar investments in Georgia. This milestone underscores Georgia’s reputation as a reliable and trustworthy investment partner and will substantially elevate the dynamic trajectory of our economy. Additionally, we will engage in high-level discussions across various political and economic domains,” Davitashvili stated.

He further emphasized the UAE’s ongoing investments in Georgia, particularly by the Abu Dhabi Ports Group, a major state-owned entity. This group is nearing completion of a dry port in Tbilisi, a critical infrastructure project slated to open later this year after years of collaboration.

Meetings with UAE business leaders will explore further opportunities to expand their presence in Georgia, particularly in logistics and transport. Cooperation extends to the energy sector as well, with Masdar actively involved in renewable energy projects.

“We are finalizing agreements with Masdar following detailed preparatory work and are developing a joint project with the Energy Development Fund,” Davitashvili added.

The Minister expressed optimism about the prospects for deepening trade and economic relations with the UAE through these significant initiatives.
