GD's Mdinaradze questions silence on Georgia from new U.S. administration despite aligned positions
“We are very interested to know why it happens that our rhetoric, sentiment, and attitude completely aligns with the current U.S. administration’s, yet despite this, not a single word about Georgia has been uttered by the newly elected U.S. President and administration,” Georgian Dream’s Executive Secretary Mamuka Mdinaradze told journalists.
As the Executive Secretary of Georgian Dream observed, there are specific reasons for this silence. These reasons should be clarified by the country’s leaders, who continue to uphold decisions made against Georgia and its elected government officials—decisions rooted in the Biden administration’s unjust and delinquent approach.
“First of all, it is commendable—indeed, something to be proud of—that our country can speak with such boldness today. Secondly, we are eager to understand why, despite our rhetoric, sentiments, and attitudes, particularly the messages we have voiced long before, the newly elected U.S. President and administration have not uttered a single word about Georgia. There are reasons for this. We cannot explain it; it is for their leaders to clarify. These leaders have continued to uphold Biden’s criminal decisions and measures taken against Georgia and its elected government officials as a result of his administration’s unjust and delinquent approach. Until this is explained and these decisions are reversed, people around the world, including in Georgia, will wonder why, despite complete alignment, indeed, Georgia articulated these positions months or even years before the United States, not a single supportive statement has been made,” Mamuka Mdinaradze declared.
