CDC allocates an additional $3 million to support Georgia's response to COVID-19

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the United States (CDC) has allocated 3 million dollars to support Georgia’s response to COVID-19, Ambassador Kelly Degnan announced today.

The Ambassador added that, on top of that, the US Department of Agriculture through the Food for Progress program is donating an additional 27,000 tons of high quality US wheat to support Georgia during this outbreak.

“I am pleased to announce an additional three million dollars from the US centres for Disease Control and Prevention to support Georgia’s response to COVID-19. This three million dollars in new funding builds on the CDC’s more than 10-year partnership with Georgia across priority public health programs such as eliminating hepatitis C, the field epidemiology and laboratory training program and of course, supporting the Lugar centre to provide quality assurance and control for laboratories across the country,” Ambassador Kelly Degnan stated.
