Christmas Alilo procession to be different this year

The Georgian traditional Christmas procession Alilo will be different this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. There will be no theatricalized show, nor the traditional walking to collect donations.

Instead, the clergy will congratulate the population on Christmas by chanting and pouring blessed water from the motor vehicles. The priests would depart in three directions of the capital at 2 pm local time.

Citizens can bring donated gifts to Republic Square from noon to 5 pm local time. A special tent has already been set up at the square. The orphanages, elderly houses, and penitentiary facilities will get the donations as usual.
