Chairman of the Tbilisi City Assembly (Sakrebulo) Giorgi Tkemaladze and fellow members participated in the traditional Christmas procession, Alilo.
Tkemaladze extended Christmas greetings to the participants and distributed gifts.
He emphasized that the revival of the Alilo tradition, blessed by His Holiness and Beatitude Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II, “is a treasure of the country.”
“Christmas represents kindness, renewal, love, and hope. I want to congratulate the entire nation on this day. I wish for our country peace and unity, and for our society, prosperity. I extend my greetings to all who pray for our country,” said Tkemaladze.
The Alilo procession began at First Republic Square and concluded at the Sameba (Holy Trinity) Cathedral. Participants collected gifts and candies along the route, which will be distributed to beneficiaries in orphanages, senior care facilities, and penitentiaries.
