The Georgian Orthodox Church celebrates the Nativity of Christ on January 7, which is marked by the traditional Christmas Alilo procession.

The Alilo procession began at First Republic Square and concluded at the Sameba (Holy Trinity) Cathedral. Participants collected gifts and candies along the route, which will be distributed to beneficiaries in orphanages, senior care facilities, and penitentiaries.

The Alilo procession, held with the blessing of Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II, has been observed annually since 2000.
