Tbilisi City Hall has released additional information regarding the damage to the embankment along a specific section of road on the Mtkvari River’s left bank.

According to the statement, City Hall responded immediately after cracks appeared on the embankment and roadway, issuing a public notice and imposing restrictions on the affected section.

“As soon as cracks appeared on the embankment and roadway, Tbilisi City Hall responded immediately, issuing a public statement and imposing restrictions on the affected section. Yesterday, safety infrastructure was installed on the right lane for both pedestrians and vehicles. Relevant studies have also begun, along with the development of technical specifications for the reconstruction. As anticipated, the damaged section of the embankment collapsed today. Restoration procedures are already underway, as previously announced.

At this stage, all necessary safety measures have been implemented, and traffic on the unrestricted section of the road is fully safe. We will continue to update the public on the progress of the restoration work as it proceeds in stages,” Tbilisi City Hall stated.
