Tbilisi City Hall reports that heavy rainfall caused problems across various districts of Tbilisi
“Sports and road infrastructure have been damaged across several districts of the capital as a result of the heavy and sustained rainfall of recent days,” reports Tbilisi City Hall.
According to the Tbilisi City Hall, the districts of Gldani, Krtsanisi, Vake, Chugureti, and Isani experienced instances of slope collapse, the toppling of retaining walls, damage to light columns and trees.
As City Hall has stated, the local district administration has offered temporary accommodation to three families residing on Tsulukhidze Street in the Isani district for safety reasons.
“Adverse weather conditions caused significant issues in the Gldani district. Flooding of the Gldanula River led to landslides on Andronikashvili, Tskharo, and Queen Tamar Streets. The rising waters swept away a sports ground and a street lamp post. Additionally, a natural gas pipe on Queen Tamar Street was damaged, but repair works are already underway.
The bad weather also caused flooding in several residential properties at the Mukhiani dacha settlement. The Gldani district administration has offered temporary accommodation to one resident of Mukhuri Street, whose home sustained significant damage.
Representatives of the relevant services of Tbilisi City Hall and the district administrations, together with the district governors, were present at every affected address alongside the Emergency Management Service. Assessment of the damage is ongoing, repair works on the damaged infrastructure are underway, and assistance is being provided to those affected,” Tbilisi City Hall’s statement reads.
