Strategy Aghmashenebeli's Vashadze to pay bail for refusing to testify before investigation commission

Giorgi Vashadze, leader of the Strategy Builder Aghmashenebeli party, will pay a 50,000-GEL bail. One of the party’s leaders, Paata Manjgaladze, told Palitranews about this. According to another news agency, Interpressnews, Manjgaladze stated that the party’s political council made this decision.

Giorgi Vashadze was granted bail of GEL 50,000 on April 23 as a preventive measure in the case of failure to appear before the temporary investigation commission studying the activities of the 2003-2012 government and its officials.

The court set a 30-day deadline for Vashadze to pay the bail.

The temporary investigative commission in the Parliament of Georgia summoned Giorgi Vashadze on April 15, however, he did not show up. Subsequently, he was summoned to the Prosecutor’s Office to give testimony.

Giorgi Vashadze was charged under Article 349 of the Criminal Code, which refers to “failure to comply with the request of the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Parliament of Georgia.” The charge is punishable by a fine or imprisonment for up to one year or deprivation of the right to hold a position or engage in an activity for a term of up to three years.
