“Paata Manjgaladze attempts to avoid responsibility,” said Levan Machavariani, a member of the Georgian Dream (GD) party.

According to Machavariani, there is evidence as well as video material in connection with the October 4 developments.

Machavariani reminded that the detained individuals had been threatening a coup, storming administrative buildings for one month.

Levan Machavariani could not confirm if Paata Machavariani was the organizer of the October 4 developments, but said it was the prerogative of the court to decide.

“From my perspective and logically speaking, of course, Mr Manjgaladze was involved in this. This was not planned for one or two months; this was a campaign planned in advance, a long time ago, where these actors threatened to overthrow the government,” he said.

Remarking on Public Defender Levan Ioseliani’s statement in Paata Manjgaladze’s case, saying there is no evidence confirming a call for violence on Manjgaladze’s part, Machavariani said:

“It doesn’t matter if it is the public defender or a politician; we don’t have the right to voice any claims in an affirmative format. When I speak, I elaborate based on what I saw in the video footage. This is sufficient for me as a non-lawyer to classify the case as a crime, although I cannot say it affirmatively,” he said.
