“We have a very clear message for the public: we must reclaim our homeland through a Georgian solution,” declared Giorgi Vashadze, one of the leaders of the Opposition Alliance.

According to Vashadze, this is a matter for the Georgian people to decide.

“It is the historic mission of our generation to lead Georgia to safety, to achieve EU membership, and to strengthen our economy. To do that, we must unite as one. On May 26, we want everyone to gather together on Rustaveli Avenue and deliver our message loud and clear, first and foremost to the people of Georgia. What is happening in this country today is not normal. We do not want a country driven into isolation. We do not want a Georgia whose independence has been compromised. We want a powerful, strong Georgia, a leader in the region. We have our path, and the Alliance has very clear steps mapped out. The first major step is on May 26. Time will tell what comes next, but I am certain that the day will come when the Georgian people, united as one, will reject the misery that Georgian Dream has brought upon them,” Giorgi Vashadze declared.

Vashadze was also asked about the statement by former President Salome Zourabichvili, expressing her wish that Georgian Dream’s removal from power should come through elections.

“Universal mobilisation, free elections, a change of government, rapid development, EU integration, economic prosperity for all. Unlike Georgian Dream, we do not divide people according to their political views. We want everyone to live happily in this country. We will never divide people, we will not imprison anyone for their political beliefs, and we will not reward others for theirs. Everyone will be equal before the law. That is the country we will build once we prevail together with the Georgian people,” Vashadze affirmed.
