Opening of 4th Youth Olympic Games – Dakar 2026 #1TVSPORT

The solemn opening ceremony of the 4th Summer Youth Olympic Games was held at the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium in Dakar, Senegal.

The opening featured local culture, traditions, music and choreography, with a traditional march of delegations, Olympic oath-taking, and the Olympic flame lit.

Georgia’s flag-bearers were swimmer Anastasia Mikelashvili and judoka Vazha Gengashvili.

President of Senegal Bassirou Diomaye Faye declared the olympic games as officially opened. Mamadou Diagna Ndiaye, President of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee/President of the Senegalese National Olympic and Sports Committee and President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Kirsty Coventry addressed the audience.

Deputy Sports Minister Irakli Dolaberidze and Secretary General of the Georgian National Olympic Committee (GNOC) Emzar Zenaishvili attended the opening ceremony.

Dakar, the capital of Senegal, will host the 4th Summer Youth Olympic Games from October 31 to November 13. A total of 2,655 athletes from 205 countries will participate in the Games, with competitions held in 25 sports disciplines.

Thirteen athletes from Georgia will compete in 9 sports (athletics, fencing, boxing, wushu, taekwondo, archery, judo, swimming, and beach wrestling).
