SSSG: Illegally detained Giorgi Mosiashvili released

Giorgi Mosiashvili, who was illegally detained by Russian occupation forces, has been released and is now in territory controlled by the Georgian central government, the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) reported.

“The release was achieved through the active use of the hotline mechanism involving the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) and all relevant tools available to the central government. Georgian authorities maintained ongoing communication with international partners throughout the process,” the SSSG stated.

The case was raised during meetings of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) and at the Geneva International Discussions.

The government, in cooperation with international partners, continues efforts to secure the release of all Georgian citizens illegally detained in the occupied territories.

“The Russian occupation forces are fully responsible for the destructive actions carried out in Georgia’s occupied regions and along the occupation line,” the statement concluded.
