Speaker: Special Protection Service serves Georgia with dedication for over 30 years
The Georgian Parliament Speaker, Shalva Papuashvili, congratulated the State Special Protection Service on the occasion of its 31st anniversary, highlighting the Service’s vital role in the country’s security system.
“The State Special Protection Service holds an important place in Georgia’s security architecture. Over the years, it has developed a successful management system and kept pace with an ever-changing and challenging global environment. The Service has embraced progressive reforms, adopted new technologies, and implemented advanced training programs,” said Papuashvili at an event marking the anniversary.
He emphasized that for more than three decades, the Service’s personnel have served the country with professionalism, courage, and dedication—safeguarding statehood, the constitutional order, and the security of Georgian and foreign high-ranking officials.
“In recent times, particularly at the end of last year, our country faced serious threats to public order, including violent attacks on the Parliament building. Amid these challenges, the employees of the State Special Protection Service stood firm in defending not only the physical premises but also the institution of Parliament as a cornerstone of our democracy.
Your professionalism in the face of great risk has been vital in safeguarding democratic processes. I extend my sincere gratitude to every member of the service, especially those who fulfilled their duties during those difficult days. I also thank the head of the service, Anzor Chubinidze, for his many years of dedicated leadership.
I pay tribute to the employees who lost their lives in the line of duty — their legacy will forever hold a special place in the history of the service and in our hearts.
On behalf of the Parliament of Georgia, I warmly congratulate all current and former members of the State Special Protection Service on their 31st anniversary. You have our deepest respect and unwavering support. I wish you continued strength, courage, and success in serving our country,” the Speaker stated.
