Speaker: No comments from Saakashvili's allies; we demand apology to Georgian people

“Representatives of the Czech Republic have expressed their views regarding Saakashvili; therefore, the only thing we expect from Saakashvili’s allies is an apology to the Georgian people,” stated Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament.

When asked about the Czech Parliament’s resolution calling for elections, Papuashvili responded, “Let them wait for new elections.”

“We will not tolerate even a single word of criticism from Saakashvili’s supporters. The only expectation we have from them is an apology to the Georgian people. Everything else is of no interest to us.

The Czech government has voiced support for the European Parliament resolution demanding Saakashvili’s release, which illustrates their stance on this matter. Hence, we reiterate our demand for an apology from Saakashvili’s allies.

In this context, all other comments are utterly devalued. Why should we accept any recommendations or remarks from those who support a corrupt individual and the architect of a system of torture?” Shalva Papuashvili emphasized.
