Speaker: Germany bans radical group, yet sponsors like-minded actors in Georgia

“In Germany, the government has banned the so-called Reichsbürger group for refusing to recognise the legitimacy of the elected government, creating parallel structures, and boycotting government decisions. Yet, in Georgia, the same German government funds groups that do exactly the same,” the Georgian Parliament Speaker, Shalva Papuashvili, wrote on social media.

“In Germany, the government has banned the so-called Reichsbürger group for refusing to recognise the legitimacy of the elected government, creating parallel structures, boycotting government decisions, obstructing police work, and claiming the country is ruled by an occupying force. Yet, in Georgia, the same German government funds groups that do exactly the same—deny the legitimacy of the elected government, set up parallel structures, boycott decisions, obstruct law enforcement, and claim Georgia is ruled by an occupying force. This is happening simultaneously—on the same planet,” Papuashvili wrote.

Germany recently banned the right-wing extremist group “Kingdom of Germany,” arresting four individuals, including its leader, Peter Fitzek.
