Salome Samadashvili says changes to agreement can be discussed only with mediators' participation

United National Movement (UNM) opposition party member, Salome Samadashvili, claims that the parties can discuss any changes to the agreement only with the participation of mediators.

“We have signed an agreement, and sides should discuss any changes in it only with the participation of mediators. So tomorrow everything will go as planned. We will see whether we achieve a common position with the Georgian Dream on the amnesty bill,” Salome Samadashvili noted.

She said she would visit Nika Melia in the penitentiary institution shortly.

“You know, we have our respective version. It is important to take the first steps towards fulfilling the agreement, and then I will visit Nika in prison tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. I will brief him about the emerging situation. We will never give consent on the amnesty law other than the already agreed one. Let’s wait. It is always possible to retract the bill. It is important to start implementing the agreement tomorrow. We should not allow the Georgian Dream to blame the opposition for breaking the agreement. This agreement is a powerful tool to hold democratic elections and change the government,” said Salome Samadashvili.

Nika Melia, the Chairman of the United National Movement, addressed the representatives of the opposition and the government who signed the European Council President Charles Michel-brokered document. Melia urges them to retract the amnesty bill. He expressed readiness to agree to the bail offered by the European Union.
