Lelo considers gov't recent visits to Europe as "total failure"

Salome Samadashvili, MP of the opposition Lelo party, assessed the governmental officials’ recent visits to European cities as a “total failure.”

According to Samadashvili, the government was reminded of the unfulfilled primary requirements and called on the authorities to stop sabotaging Georgia’s European future.

The opposition MP also remarked on the IRI Public Poll, which confirmed that the anti-western propaganda of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party “did not work,” while the Georgian people firmly decided that Georgia’s future is linked with the EU.

“Instead of messages on the candidate country status, we heard the ball is in the government’s court. Key requirements related to the supremacy of law, institutional independence, and human rights remain unfulfilled. European Council President had nothing positive to say to hold a joint press conference with the Prime Minister,” she said.

Salome Samadashvili called on the GD to fulfil the EC’s 12-point recommendations, saying otherwise, it was destined for “total political destruction.”
