Ross Wilson: U.S. supports freedom of speech and expression, but all of this should be done peacefully

Ross Wilson, acting US Ambassador to Georgia, states that the United States supports the freedom of speech and expression, but all of this should be done peacefully, in a calm form. According to Ross Wilson, it’s time for Georgia to continue moving forward and work on other important issues facing the country.

“I would like to touch upon the events that took place yesterday. Certainly, the United States supports freedom of speech and expression, freedom of assembly, but all of this should be done peacefully, in calm forms. Accordingly, it’s time for Georgia to continue its peaceful progress and work on the important issues facing the country”, – Ross Wilson said.

In addition, acting US Ambassador assessed President’s inauguration ceremony that took place yesterday.

“We are very happy and proud to have taken part in the inauguration ceremony. Our delegation was led by the Deputy Administrator of USAID. USAID is an organization that has been operating in Georgia for more than 25 years and supports the economic, social and democratic development of the country. I would like to say that I and the head of USAID congratulated Salome Zurabishvili on winning the elections and noted what this means for the country”, – said Ross Wilson, acting US Ambassador to Georgia.
