Georgian parliamentary delegation meets Senator Daines in Washington

A delegation of the Georgian Parliament met with Steve Daines, a member of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, in Washington, as part of its official visit to the United States.

The meeting was also attended by Georgia’s Ambassador to the United States, Tamar Taliashvili.

According to MP Eka Sepashvili, Georgia is interested in deepening its strategic partnership with the United States.

“Our interest with the U.S. is to develop a strategic partnership — a real partnership, not just one written on paper,” Sepashvili said, noting that the discussion lasted longer than initially planned.

She emphasized that the South Caucasus and Central Asia region is gaining strategic importance for Washington and that Georgia has a special role in strengthening ties within the region.

The Georgian parliamentary delegation is headed by Nikoloz Samkharadze and includes MPs Mariam Lashkhi, Lika Shartava, and Eka Sepashvili.

As part of the visit, the delegation will hold additional meetings in Congress and with representatives of the executive branch. Members will also participate in the Conference of the Alliance of Sovereign States, where discussions will focus on international security, sovereignty, and regional cooperation.
