Procedural Committee Chair: Khazaradze and Japaridze disrespected state institutions, President addressed matter at state level

Khazaradze and Japaridze showed disrespect for state institutions, committed a crime, and were serving a fair sentence, said Davit Matikashvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Procedural Issues.

According to Matikashvili, Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili addressed the matter at a state level by pardoning Japaridze and Khazaradze.

“The president approached this issue in a state-level manner, taking into account the political component related to the elections. The pre-election campaign is underway, and the elections will take place soon. To prevent speculation and end any potential provocations, the president decided to release these two individuals,” Matikashvili said.
