MP Matikashvili: Expect more from Georgian-US cooperation amid shared values

“Georgia, as a reliable partner, has repeatedly proven its loyalty to shared values,” said Davit Matikashvili, a member of the parliamentary majority.

According to him, while the pace of Georgian-American relations has accelerated, more progress is needed.

“We are expecting certain positive developments. Georgia has consistently demonstrated its commitment to partnership. Georgian soldiers have volunteered in ISAF missions, often where EU member states did not deploy troops, and many gave their lives on the battlefield. No stronger proof of Georgia’s dedication to this partnership exists,” Matikashvili noted.

He also highlighted Georgia’s role in regional stability and the Middle Corridor.

“Georgia stands out for its peace policy and holds a special role in the Middle Corridor. This position could be leveraged in genuine, mutually beneficial partnership relations with the United States — starting from a new, clean slate. The Georgian side has consistently proven its commitment, yet past agreements were largely symbolic. Today, there is an opportunity to reset the relationship. We are ready; it is now America’s turn,” he said.
