Procedural Affairs Committee Chair accuses European structures of blackmail, pressure
“European bureaucracy once again demonstrated to Georgia and the entire world its anti-Georgian image,” said Davit Matikashvili, Chair of the parliamentary Procedural Affairs Committee.
According to Matikashvili, those who respect the Georgian people should respect the legitimate government elected by them.
“European bureaucracy once again demonstrated to Georgia and the entire world its anti-Georgian image. Blackmailing, pressure and coercion are again being heard from European structures. Georgians are being asked to repeal the Transparency Law, through which Georgia defends its sovereignty, to repeal Law on Protection of Minors, which is a key mechanism to protect future generations.
They are using the blackmail mechanism under the pretext that they respect the Georgian people. This is a complete lie, because those who respect the people respect the government they have legitimately elected.
“Georgia could lose its visa-free status entirely,” reads the European Commission’s eighth annual report under the Visa Suspension Mechanism, monitoring the EU’s visa-free regimes, published on December 19.
