President Kavelashvili: South Caucasus countries ready to ensure long-term peace and development

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili, during his official visit to Armenia, emphasized the readiness of South Caucasus countries to work toward lasting peace and stable development in the region.

“The region needs stability, peace, and economic development,” Kavelashvili stated.

“I have concluded my visit to Armenia, which was my first official trip to the Republic of Armenia as President. During the visit, I held meetings with my counterpart, the President, as well as the Prime Minister. I also visited Echmiadzin, where I had the honour of meeting His Holiness, and toured the Parajanov House Museum.

The meeting with the President was particularly significant. We discussed a range of important issues, including the shared vision for long-term peace and stable development in the South Caucasus. I would like to emphasize to the public that there is a clear readiness among the countries in our region to work together toward these common goals.

As you know, I recently visited Azerbaijan, and I sensed a similar spirit there. The trilateral dialogue between Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan is ongoing, with the central focus being the pursuit of peace. Negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan have concluded, and the region now awaits the signing of an agreement that could pave the way for lasting peace.

It is important to highlight that there is widespread consensus on the need for peace, stability, and economic development. This foundation will also allow us to advance cooperation in areas such as energy, tourism, and culture. All of these opportunities depend on lasting political stability. I believe this process will be positive and successful. I have witnessed the sincere readiness of our leaders to move forward. The desire for peace—both domestically and across the region—is well understood. There is no alternative to peace. It is the key to a more prosperous future, stronger societies, and greater security for every citizen. Our regional cooperation will only grow stronger as we continue on this path,” he concluded.
