Armenian media reports that Armenian authorities seized nearly 30 kilograms of hashish from transit truck en route to Georgia
Armenian media reports that nearly 30 kilograms of hashish were confiscated from a truck in transit to Georgia. The driver, an Iranian national, was reportedly detained in connection with the case.
The vehicle was stopped at the country house border checkpoint upon entering Armenia. Officially, the truck was transporting construction slabs, with Georgia listed as its final destination.
During routine customs procedures, an initial X-ray scan revealed no irregularities. However, subsequent checks using K9 units indicated the possible presence of drugs in the trailer. As a result, the vehicle was directed to a customs inspection point for a more thorough search, during which the trailer was dismantled. The search uncovered specially constructed secret compartments containing approximately 28 kilograms of hashish, organised into 111 packages.
The Iranian driver was detained and taken to the Syunik Regional Investigation Department. A criminal case has been opened, and investigations are underway to determine the circumstances, including any potential involvement by accomplices and organisers.
