61 foreign nationals detained in immigration control operations
Officers of the Migration Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted special immigration control operations across the country.
According to the Ministry, a total of 61 foreign nationals staying in Georgia illegally were detained as a result of the coordinated operations. They include citizens of Thailand, Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Russia, Belarus, Jordan, China, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
“As part of the special immigration control measures, Migration Department officers inspected facilities serving various purposes.
Inspections established that the detained individuals were staying in Georgia in violation of the requirements set out in the Law of Georgia on the Legal Status of Aliens and Stateless Persons.
The detainees are currently being held at the Migration Department’s Temporary Accommodation Center. Relevant procedures are underway to ensure their removal from Georgia,” the Ministry said
