Legal Affairs Committee Chair: Validity of our claim confirmed; unconstitutional parties do not distance themselves from violence but support it

“The validity of our claim has been confirmed; unconstitutional parties, even today, not only fail to distance themselves from the violence that occurs during violent protest rallies, but actually support it. Not a single party used the opportunity to distance itself from violence at Constitutional Court hearings,” said Archil Gorduladze, Chair of the parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee, at the briefing.

According to Gorduladze, opposition representatives called individuals detained during protests “unlawful prisoners” given the fact that the prisoners admitted their guilt.

Gorduladze noted that oppositional parties do not recognize the 2024 parliamentary election outcomes and spare no effort to discredit the results in the international arena.

“The validity of our claim has been confirmed; unconstitutional parties disregard the fundamental constitutional principle that the people are the source of state power. Even today, these unconstitutional parties refuse to recognize the choice made by the Georgian people during the 2024 parliamentary elections.

It has been confirmed that unconstitutional parties, without evidence and with full disregard of the Georgian people’s choice, spare no effort to discredit the results of the 2024 parliamentary elections in the international arena. Moreover, throughout the entire week, they have continued to refer to constitutional bodies as illegitimate and have sought to disregard the rule-of-law state,” he said.
