New York and Los Angeles shut down bar and restaurant in order to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that theatres, concert venues, and nightclubs must close completely from March 17.

A total of 3 485 cases were reported in the US. 49 died from the novel virus.
