National Wine Agency: Approximately 20 Georgian wineries showcase at New York exhibition
Around 20 Georgian wine producers participated in the RAW Wine NYC exhibition held in New York, USA, with the support of the National Wine Agency.
According to the Agency, the RAW Wine (The Artisan Wine Fair) exhibition brings together producers of premium, natural, organic, and biodynamic wines from around the world.
“One of the primary objectives of the National Wine Agency is to promote the recognition of family-run wineries in international markets. This exhibition offers us a valuable opportunity to showcase qvevri wine on a large scale, introduce it to representatives of the world-renowned winemaking industry, and enable producers to connect with potential importers,” stated Elene Kiknadze, Head of the Exhibitions and Events Coordination Department of the National Wine Agency.
The event is organised by the renowned Master of Wine from France, Isabelle Legeron.
This year, Georgian wineries, also supported by the National Wine Agency, participated in RAW Wine exhibitions held in Paris, Shanghai, Tokyo, Copenhagen, and Verona.
“This year, Georgia had the largest representation. It’s evident when tasting Georgian wines just how diverse they are. Such a wide variety of grape varieties is truly exceptional. It’s particularly encouraging to see more winemakers exploring lesser-known varieties. While Rkatsiteli and Saperavi have traditionally dominated, we now see Kisi, Kikhvi, Mtsvane, as well as rosé and naturally sparkling wines. As a result, quality continues to improve each year, and the diversity of styles is expanding,” said Isabelle Legeron.
Maia Bartaia, the Consul General of Georgia in New York, attended the Georgian Wine Festival. According to the National Wine Agency, Georgian winemakers received support from the Georgian Consulate in New York to present their wines across the United States. Over the course of a week, Georgian wine was showcased at two prominent events, the inaugural Georgian Amber Wine Festival, Amber Georgia, and the RAW Wine NYC exhibition.
“In an effort to boost the export potential of Georgian wine and diversify markets, the National Wine Agency provided financial and organisational support for Georgian wine to be presented at 29 exhibitions, festivals, and approximately 250 tastings and seminars across the USA, Europe, and Asia, spanning around 20 countries, within just ten months of 2025,” the Agency stated.
