MP Kadagishvili: No deterioration in U.S.-Georgia relations amid it shaping new policies in South Caucasus
Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Self-Government, Irakli Kadagishvili, believes that Georgia’s relations with America “have not yet deteriorated.”
“I believe that the United States is currently in the process of shaping its policies to some extent, including its approach toward the South Caucasus,” he said.
According to Kadagishvili, it is also important to consider that the ongoing war in Ukraine is one of the most important factors that also affect the South Caucasus region.
“Our region is also affected by the U.S.-Iranian relations dynamics. Therefore, ultimately, we must consider the development of the policy of the United States in the context of these factors, even though we, as an independent state, have our own solid policies and firm views,” the chairman stated.
Kadagishvili stressed that Georgia would hardly wish to fall a mere follower of certain geopolitical deals.
“Regardless of geopolitical contexts, we, as an independent state, will always stand by our solid positions. It is in this synthesis, in this unity, that we should see the future relations between Georgia and the United States,” Irakli Kadagishvili concluded.
