MP Samkharadze: U.S.-Georgia relations have been restored, but achieving strategic partnership takes time

“We can say that U.S.-Georgia relations have already been restored, based on the fact that visits have taken place, there have been phone calls, and communication has resumed,” said MP Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Georgian Parliament.

According to him, returning relations to a strategic level is a process that requires time.

“Restoring relations is one thing; elevating them to a strategic partnership is another. This realisation is a work in progress and inevitably takes time. We must agree on those mutually beneficial factors and areas that should form the foundation of a strategic partnership between Georgia and the United States. This process has already begun, and we should not expect it to be completed tomorrow, the day after, or even next month. It is a process that will require patience and time,” Samkharadze explained.
