MIA addresses incorrect vehicle violation notifications for demonstration fines; error being corrected

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued a statement addressing the recent fines imposed for violations of the regulations governing assemblies and demonstrations.

“The official website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, police.ge, has begun publishing fines under Article 174 prime of the Code of Administrative Offences (pertaining to violations of the Georgian Law on Assemblies and Demonstrations).

The fine notifications were generated automatically on the Ministry’s official website using a video fine principle leading to citizens receiving SMS alerts incorrectly stating that the fines were issued for vehicle-related violations.

The relevant department is actively working to fix this technical error,” stated the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
