Media outlets, civil activists rally in Gori following TV Pirveli cameraman’s death
Media representatives and civil activists held a silent rally in the city of Gori in eastern Georgia to demand severe punishment of those who assaulted late TV Pirveli cameraman Lekso Lashkarava on July 5.
The protesters offered condolences to the family members of the deceased cameraman and decried the violent attacks on media outlets.
The cameraman died earlier today after being assaulted by far-right activists on July 5. Lekso Lashkarava was beaten in the Shame Movement office, stormed by anti-Tbilisi Pride members, said Interior Ministry, adding that the Ministry launched a probe into the case under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, involving incitement to suicide.
The exact reason behind death is unknown so far. Relevant forensic medical examination has already been appointed, the police added.
