Kaja Kallas: Today, Georgia adopted law that further shrinks civic space
Kaja Kallas, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy / Vice-President of the European Commission, said, “Today, Georgia adopted a law that further shrinks civic space.”
“Rushed and passed without consultation, it adds to recent repressive legislation. These steps undermine Georgia’s EU candidate status and core democratic principles,” Kaja Kallas wrote on X.
Parliament has reviewed and approved amendments to Georgia’s Organic Law on Political Unions of Citizens, employing expedited procedures to pass the legislation in a third reading with 80 votes in favour.
