Kaja Kallas: We support Georgian people but not Georgian government, which takes things in wrong direction
“We are supporting the Georgian people, but not the Georgian government, which is taking things in the wrong direction,” said Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, ahead of the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC).
“We are also discussing what is happening in Georgia. Our approach to this has been very firm. We are supporting the Georgian people, but not the Georgian government, which is taking things in the wrong direction.
As for the Georgian government, we have been very clear that the path it is taking: the repression of the opposition, the limitation of media, all the laws that have been passed, are not acceptable to us. So we need to see real progress there,” she said.
