Georgian battalion returns from Afghanistan

The 23rd infantry battalion of Georgia has returned from Afghanistan, – Georgia’s Defense Ministry reported.

Georgia’s Defense Minister Levan Izoria, Armed Forces General Staff Head General Vladimer Chachibaia and US Deputy Ambassador to Georgia Elizabeth Rude met the Georgian peacekeepers at Alekseevka airfield.

The Defense Minister congratulated the military servicemen on returning to motherland, thanked for the service and wished them success.

The battalion served at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. It has been replaced by 31st battalion according to the rotation rule.
