Speaker Papuashvili: While some NATO countries stay in HQ, Georgia sent soldiers to front lines

“With independence, we became part of the international community, embracing our responsibilities for global security,” Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, told journalists.

Papuashvili emphasised Georgia’s active participation in numerous international missions.

“While some NATO countries stayed in their headquarters and only sent a 30-member contingent to Afghanistan, our soldiers fought on the front lines there. This is a true contribution to international security. Every congratulation extended to the Georgian government today is a gesture of gratitude to the Georgian people, and I am proud to see this recognition,” he said.
