Construction work in Pankisi Gorge suspended, Deputy Interior Minister urges protesters to dialogue (video)
The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Kakha Sabanadze called on the locals of Pankisi Gorge for a dialogue. He has arrived in Pankisi Gorge, where locals clashed with police in protest against construction of Hydro Power Plant.
As Sabanadze stated on the ground, the construction works are suspended. He offers the protesters to go to Telavi and hold negotiations on the issue.
The Deputy Interior Minister urged the locals to calm and explained that otherwise, police would act in accordance with the law.
Locals of Pankisi Gorge clashed with police when protesting against the construction of the Hydro Power Plant Khadori. The protesters began throwing stones at the Special Forces officers, after which the law enforcers used tear gas.
