Head of the National Center for Diseases Control and Public Health (NCDC), Amiran Gamkrelidze, reported that approximately six thousand people got the Covid-19 booster jab.
According to Gamkrelidze, a booster dose is crucial amid the emerging Omicron new strain of the virus, although Omicron has not been confirmed in Georgia yet.
“We are observing the situation worldwide. The NCDC has prepared a protocol and distributed it to all laboratories. The samples are submitted to the NCDC,” Gamkrelidze said.
The Georgian government decided to reduce the gap for the Covid-19 booster shot from six to five months after the second jab. Immunization Council authorized the COVID-19 booster shots in November.
