The epidemiological situation is difficult but under control, said Amiran Gamkrelidze, Head of the National Center for Diseases Control and Public Health (NCDC).
According to Gamkrelidze, the country is at the coronavirus spread peak. He said Georgia would overcome the sixth wave with fewer human losses by following regulations, avoiding public places and more booster shots.
During the news briefing after the Interagency Coordination Council, the NCDC Head noted that 95% of new coronavirus cases were the Omicron strain.
Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia said that the Council would consider reducing isolation terms for people whose return to work is essential.
Currently, the isolation period for Covid patients with no symptoms makes eight days.
